Prevention of Dishwasher Water Damage

by admin on July 12, 2009

Many people notice water damage Berkeley in the kitchen long after the problem has started.  This can cost a lot of money to replace and fix problems in the kitchen if it is not fixed right away.  There are things you can do to prevent water damage from your dishwasher from occurring.

The dishwasher runs water every time it is used.  When it fails it is usually a leak that occurs and can cause water damage Berkeley.  Many people don’t pay attention to the dishwasher when the shut the door, start it, and walk away.  You should always be sure the door to the dishwasher is shut tightly so no water can seep through the doors.  If water leaks out of the door it can be a bad flood in the kitchen.

Water damage Berkeley can occur from a dishwasher on the back side too.  It is common for the water line to not be properly secured to the back of the appliance.  This can cause water to spray at the back of the dishwasher in addition to washing the dishes.  This is a hard leak to notice and is usually noticed when something severe happens later.  The best way to tell a leak with the dishwasher is to pull it out from the cabinetry at least once a month.  From the surrounding cabinets you can also tell if there is any leaking.

It is also easy for you to check the cabinetry surrounding the dishwasher too.  When you reach down for a piece of Tupperware or a pan under the cabinet you should look at the wood.  You shouldn’t see anything that looks like a stain.  If the wood looks like it has a stain then you might want to investigate a possible leak.

The dishwasher is one of the most popular causes of water damage Berkeley to occur.  You should pay attention to your dishwasher and be sure it is properly connected at all times.  It is also important to be sure that you close the door securely so water doesn’t leak out of the front of the appliance.
